This original embroidery is based on the Palace Theatre in Swansea. In its heyday Sir Anthony Hopkins, Charlie Chaplin and many more graced its stage, but now it is slowly crumbling and has been unused and unloved since 2006. 
 
This embroidery is hand and machine stitched using an antique hand cranked Singer sewing machine created at the same time as The Palace was built. 
 
I wanted to highlight the way a building, which once would have been filled with such colourful life, has slowly fallen into disrepair and is described by the Theatres Trust as "in a poor state of repair and extremely vulnerable." The only colour it now sees are from the plants growing from the building.
 
It measures 32 x 44cm and is ready to hang.
