The ladybird box is made using double knitting hemp yarn, but it works just as well with double knitting acrylic, both use a 3.5mm hook. The eyes are made using Vilene painted with acrylics, the white part is cut out with an 8mm punch and the pupils are cut out with a standard hole punch. You could use paper, felt or even googly eyes, but safety eyes will stop the box closing properly. Use whatever you find works best for you.
