This piece is based on a building in Swansea, UK that has been abandoned. It has a wonderful history as a theatre and is sadly neglected. 
 
I wanted the colours to be muted and sepia to represent the passing of time since it was at the height of its popularity and the tangled brambles represent how it has become.
 
The piece is machine embroidered using an antique Singer sewing machine (made around the time the theatre was built) onto reclaimed fabrics, it was then painted. Pieces of handmade hand coloured paper were hand stitched on to the surface of the fabric.
 
The piece is ready to hang and measures 31 x 42cm
