Can't Control
This original piece of textile art is based on Bethlem Royal Hospital (or Bedlam as it became known)
It is made from patched pieces of fabrics machine stitched, painted with dye and ink with metal eyelets strung with hemp cord. It is hung on a copper rod and is ready to hang.
I find the workings (or not) of the mind fascinating, especially to see the seeds of some the major mental health issues cropping up in whoever you might call 'normal' people.
The piece measures just over 39" wide (the length of the copper rod) by 27" high (the fabric is about 15" high, plus the hanging cord and the lengths of hemp yarn stringing the piece together)
